Inlays and Onlays with Cerec
Inlays and onlays are restorations that are used when your tooth needs more than a simple filling, but does not need a full crown. They can restore strength and beauty to a tooth, with 75 percent less trauma than is necessary with a crown. Inlays are set into the space that is left when tooth decay is removed and bonded firmly into place. Onlays are similar, but they are larger, and are used to replace one or more of the tooth's cusps.
Cerec 3D Technology
Crowns, inlays and onlays used to take several office visits to install. In the first visit, impressions of your teeth would be taken and then sent to an off-site dental lab where the crown would be made. Now, we use a new technology called Cerec 3D to craft porcelain restorations in our office, which means your whole crown installation can take place during a single office visit. Cerec restorations achieve much better aesthetics when compared to those made in an off-site lab; they are three times as strong as other restorations, and are even less expensive!
All-Porcelain Crowns
If you have teeth with serious cosmetic and structural problems, all-porcelain crowns may be a good way to restore your smile as well as your ability to enjoy the foods you love. Crowns are lifelike synthetic teeth that can completely cover a problem tooth. They are an excellent option when your teeth still have strong, healthy roots.
Many dentists use crowns made of porcelain attached to a metal base. These porcelain-and-metal crowns often have a tendency to discolor around the base, leaving a dark line at the bottom of your tooth. At Old Milton Dental, we use crowns made entirely of porcelain, which are just as strong as porcelain-and-metal crowns, but will never discolor.
Bonding
In cosmetic bonding, we apply a tooth-colored bonding material to your teeth, and carefully shape it to cover chips, cracks, and discoloration. The bonding material we use is strong, durable, and long-lasting. Bonding is a quick and relatively easy way to restore a healthy appearance to problem teeth.
Total Smile Makeover
At Old Milton Dental, we believe that there's no such thing as a "lost cause" when it comes to teeth. That's why when you visit our practice for your consultation, we will carefully examine your teeth, and work with you to come up with a smile makeover plan to help you move, step by step, towards a beautiful new smile. We have a wide variety of tools and techniques at our disposal, so whether you will best benefit from a dental implant, teeth whitening with BriteSmile®, Invisalign® or porcelain veneers, our Atlanta, Georgia-area dentist Dr. Corey Mazer can help you remake your smile.
